Description
Rocking Horse is Thorne and Daughters cornerstone wine and takes its name from a wooden rocking horse that was made for John and Tasha Seccombe’s daughter out of old oak barrel staves. Rocking Horse is Thorne and Daughters signature wine and it is where all the work comes together to make their most complete wine. The wine is composed from a number of carefully selected vineyard sites in the Western Cape made up of 32% Roussanne from Stellenbosch / Paardeberg, 29% Semillon Blanc from Franschhoek, 19% Chardonnay from the Ceres Palteau, 16% Chenin Blanc from Paardeberg and 4% Clairette Blanche from the Swartland. A layered and complex nose reveals golden kiwi fruit, mace, apple skin and shy florals, leading into a rounded, rich palate of honeyed nougat with a long taut, slightly saline finish.
