Description
The flagship red at Ernie Els doubles as one of the nation’s strongest bordeaux blends. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with Petit Verdot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc representing 15% of the blend; Signature is produced from prime vineyards in the Helderberg appellation of Stellenbosch. Predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon, the purple edge and pitch black core immediately point to the structure and density of the cuvée. Time in the glass uncovers candied orange, cardamom, clove and dark olives, leading to an intense palate with notes of graphite and cassis. Firm tannins and pure fruit, enrobed by fine and complex spicy oak leads to a finish that is long and rewarding. A wine to drink or hold, though we at Frontier recommend the former!
